2017 Legislative Report 3

The General Assembly reconvened on Monday, January 30; Day 9 of the legislative calendar and recessed at the end of business on Thursday, February 2, 2017; Day 12. The General Assembly will reconvene on Tuesday, February 7, 2017; Day 13.
SR 132 was adopted by the Senate and House setting the calendar for the remainder of the 2017 legislative session. The General Assembly will be in session 2/7/17 through 2/10/2017; 2/14/2017 through 2/17/2017; 2/21/2017 through 2/24/2017; 2/27/2017 through 3/1/2017; 3/3/2017 and 3/6/2017; 3/9/2017 through 3/10/2017; 3/13/2017 through 3/16/2017; 3/20/2017, 3/22/2017, 3/24/2017, 3/28/2017; and 3/30/2017. Day 30, the day a bill must pass one chamber of the legislature to be eligible for passage by both chambers, will be Thursday, March 9, 2017.
Day 40, Sine Die, will be Thursday, March 30, 2017.

Budget
HB 43, the FY-2017 Supplemental Budget, was passed by the Senate and forwarded to the Governor for signature.
HB 44, the FY-2018 Budget, is being finalized.House Appropriations subcommittees conducted 2018 budget hearings for all state agencies. The Economic Development Subcommittee conducted hearings for the Department of Economic Development and the Department of Community Affairs on Wednesday, February 1.

Amends Chapter 8 of Title 50 of the OCGA, relating to the Department of Community Affairs, so as to recreate the Georgia Geospatial Advisory Council under the Department of Community Affairs; to provide for definitions; to provide that all documents and data of the current Georgia Geospatial Advisory Council that is under the Environmental Protection Division of the Department of Natural Resources shall be transferred to the new council; to provide for appointment of members to the council, selection of a chairperson, and payment of certain expenses; to provide for availability of reports generated by the council; to provide for promulgation of certain rules and regulations; to provide for an effective date; and for other purposes.
